Senior Network & Computer Systems Administrator

Department: Information Technology (Consulting)
Location: San Diego, CA

The Marlin Alliance, Inc. is seeking a Senior Network & Computer Systems Administrator in San Diego, CA. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the administration, maintenance, and security of the organization's computer systems, networks, and related infrastructure. This position supports our Navy customer and offers exceptional upside potential.

Established in 2002, The Marlin Alliance is seeking to hire highly skilled individuals to support mission critical projects within the Navy. We are looking for motivated individuals to lead and support digital transformation, data science and analytics, and automation projects for variety of Navy clients. Individuals must be able to function in a fast-paced work environment and able to adapt quickly to rapidly changing requirements and technologies. Using your comprehensive knowledge of various technologies, you will design, develop, and implement solutions to support Navy mission owners in their digital transformation journey.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Administer and maintain servers, including server hardware, operating systems, and software applications.
  • Manage and configure network infrastructure components, such as routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Implement and enforce security measures, including access controls, user authentication, and data protection protocols.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues related to networks, servers, and applications.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, policies, and procedures for system administration and network operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of systems and applications.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to end-users on system-related issues.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in system administration and network management.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Four-year or higher degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a related information technology (IT) role, with a strong focus on system administration and network management.
  • Proven experience in administering servers, controlling user access, and managing interfaces.
  • In-depth knowledge of server operating systems (e.g., Windows Server, Linux).
  • Proficient in network protocols, technologies, and security practices.
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) for automation tasks.
  • Familiarity with IT service management frameworks (e.g., ITIL).
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., MCSE, CCNA, CISSP).
