The Marlin Alliance, Inc. is seeking a Senior Database Administrator in San Diego, CA. This individual will be responsible for the administration, design, development, and maintenance of the organization's database systems, ensuring data integrity, security, and optimal performance. This position supports our Navy customer and offers exceptional upside potential.
Established in 2002, The Marlin Alliance is seeking to hire highly skilled individuals to support mission critical projects within the Navy. We are looking for motivated individuals to lead and support digital transformation, data science and analytics, and automation projects for variety of Navy clients. Individuals must be able to function in a fast-paced work environment and able to adapt quickly to rapidly changing requirements and technologies. Using your comprehensive knowledge of various technologies, you will design, develop, and implement solutions to support Navy mission owners in their digital transformation journey.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Administer and maintain database systems, including installation, configuration, upgrades, and backups.
- Design and develop database structures, schemas, and data models to support business requirements.
- Implement and enforce database security measures, access controls, and data protection protocols.
- Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize system efficiency.
- Develop and maintain database standards, policies, and procedures.
- Collaborate with developers and cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of applications with database systems.
- Provide technical support and guidance to end-users on database-related issues.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in database administration and design.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Four-year or higher degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in a related information technology (IT) role, with a strong focus on database administration, design, and development.
- Proven experience with Oracle and/or Microsoft SQL Server database management systems.
- In-depth knowledge of database standards, methodologies, and industry best practices.
- Proficient in database programming languages (e.g., SQL, PL/SQL, T-SQL).
- Strong understanding of data modeling, normalization, and database optimization techniques.
- Familiarity with database backup and recovery strategies.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with cloud-based database platforms (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database).
- Knowledge of database performance monitoring and tuning tools.
- Familiarity with data warehousing and business intelligence concepts.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified Database Administrator).
