Senior Operations Research Analyst

Department: Information Technology (Consulting)
Location: San Diego, CA

The Marlin Alliance, Inc. is seeking a Senior Operations Research Analyst in San Diego, CA. This individual will be responsible for applying advanced analytical techniques and mathematical modeling to support data-driven decision-making and optimize business processes and operations. This position supports our Navy customer and offers exceptional upside potential.

Established in 2002, The Marlin Alliance is seeking to hire highly skilled individuals to support mission critical projects within the Navy. We are looking for motivated individuals to lead and support digital transformation, data science and analytics, and automation projects for variety of Navy clients. Individuals must be able to function in a fast-paced work environment and able to adapt quickly to rapidly changing requirements and technologies. Using your comprehensive knowledge of various technologies, you will design, develop, and implement solutions to support Navy mission owners in their digital transformation journey.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Analyze complex business problems and requirements to identify opportunities for optimization and process improvement.
  • Develop and implement mathematical models, simulations, and quantitative analysis techniques to evaluate alternatives and support decision-making.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather data, understand business requirements, and translate them into analytical models.
  • Perform data mining, statistical analysis, and forecasting to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports, presentations, and technical documentation to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of implemented solutions and make necessary adjustments.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in operations research and analytics.


Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Four-year or higher degree in Business Administration, Operations Research, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a related business or analytical role, with a strong focus on operations research and quantitative analysis.
  • Proven experience in analyzing business requirements and preparing project and technical documentation.
  • Proficient in statistical analysis, optimization techniques, and mathematical modeling.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and draw actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools and techniques.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Operations Research, Management Science, or a related quantitative field.
  • Experience with programming languages (e.g., Python, R, SQL) and data manipulation tools.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies and software development life cycles (SDLC).
  • Familiarity with supply chain management, logistics, or manufacturing processes.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., INFORMS Certified Analytics Professional, ASQ Six Sigma.

$85,000 - $150,000
