Human System Integration Engineer

Department: Business Intelligence (Consulting)
Location: San Diego, CA

The Marlin Alliance, Inc. is seeking dedicated and experienced Human System Integration Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in Human System Integration (HSI) principles and methodologies, along with a minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in HSI analysis and implementation. A Secret Clearance is required for this role.

Established in 2002, The Marlin Alliance is seeking to hire highly skilled individuals to support mission critical projects within the Navy. We are looking for motivated individuals to lead and support digital transformation, data science and analytics, and automation projects for variety of Navy clients. Individuals must be able to function in a fast-paced work environment and able to adapt quickly to rapidly changing requirements and technologies. Using your comprehensive knowledge of various technologies, you will design, develop, and implement solutions to support Navy mission owners in their digital transformation journey.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • HSI Analysis: Conduct comprehensive Human System Integration (HSI) analyses to assess the impact of system design on human performance, safety, and usability.
  • User-Centered Design: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure that system design and user interfaces are optimized for human use, considering factors such as ergonomics, cognitive workload, and user preferences.
  • Requirements Development: Work with stakeholders to develop HSI requirements and guidelines that align with project objectives and regulatory standards.
  • Usability Testing: Plan and execute usability testing and human factors evaluations to identify and address usability issues and improve system design.
  • Interface Design: Participate in the design of user interfaces, ensuring they meet HSI best practices and provide an intuitive user experience.
  • Safety Assessment: Evaluate the impact of system design on safety and human error, and propose mitigations as necessary.
  • Documentation: Create clear and concise HSI documentation, including reports, recommendations, and design guidelines.
  • Training and Awareness: Provide HSI training and awareness to project teams and stakeholders, promoting the importance of HSI in system design.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Factors Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of practical experience in Human System Integration (HSI).
  • Proficiency in HSI analysis methods, tools, and best practices.
  • Active Secret Clearance is required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to improving user experiences.
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards and guidelines related to HSI.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in Human Factors Engineering or related field.
  • Experience in HSI assessments for military or defense systems.
  • Knowledge of software tools for usability testing and human factors evaluations.
  • Understanding of system safety principles and risk assessment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
